Car import taxation

Hi all,

I've just brought a car registered in Italy into Finland and needed some info, it's a volvo v40 2.0 lt make year 2000, since I can't find it in the tulli website how or where can I get the actual general asking price??
They also told me at tulli that the percentage for import taxes is estimated on the car's gross mass? is that correct? they said it should be 24% on the retail value.

Tulli got statistics of cars brought in & the valuation, so you need to go through each monthly pdf and hope someone brought a 2000 volvo v40... Mass? They do the taxation by CO2 emissions these days - if its been recorded. I kind of doubt they did in 2000. Mass is more of importance if you have a diesel when you pay road tax.

Maybe you can go to oikotie.fi and put in make, model and year. There are a couple of v40's from around year 2000 for sale.

The tax you will be charged is an estimate of the residual tax in similar or equivalent car imported into Finland when new. Or in other words you will be charged the amount of tax they estimate is still remaining in the retail price of the same make, model and year in thereabouts similar nick.
