International high school

Post by Silvia-Jolene » Wed Nov 12, 2014 8:01 pm

Hello!
I'd be happy if you can tell me is there an english/international school in Helsinki or somewhere close , 9-12 grade where you study mainly in english?
I heard of one but the expectations there are extremely high. I suppose it's like that in all the schools tho...
I'd like to enroll myself in such a school where there are all kinds of people from different countries but also learn better finnish.
Thank you! :ochesey:

Basically you talking about what is called Lukio here, and it is 10-12 grade. There is a number of ib schools - Ressu, Kulosaari (not ib , provides a-levels ) , syk, vantaa international and the English school which are free , there is also the international school of Helsinki which is not.
All schools follow the Finnish curriculum plus some extra depending on whether it is an ib school or not .

I believe that Eiran is more for adult education. If you wanna stay with your peers try the lukios that I mentioned.

The best way to learn about lukios - try the open days. All schools have them in January- February .

Couple of corrections concerning The English School in Meilahti, Helsinki:
TES - The English school is private school. This year the tuition fee is 673€ for the whole school year + registration is 50€ (once in the three years I believe).
TES is not (at least currently) an IB school. See more from http://www.eschool.edu.hel.fi/high_scho ... chool.html.
