Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences - KyAMK
Hi guys,
I am Nguyet Tran Minh, KyAMK’s student in International Business degree. Now, this is application period, I guess you are highly concerning about which UAS to apply. I provide you guys some information about KyAMK so that you can have deeper understanding to take your choice carefully 
1. Location

KyAMK has two campuses in Kotka and Kouvola. The campus which gives degree in English is located in Kasarminmäki, Kouvola. Kouvola is approximately 130km from Helsinki, you can take VR train for nearly half an hour Especially, from Kouvola you can take train go directly to St. Petersburg, which is very convenient for Russian students.

In Kasarminmäki campus, KyAMK is on a hill with large area of green grass in summer time. You can choose International Business or Game Design degree in Kasarminmäki campus. There are different functional buildings in campus area for IB and GD students. On my first tour around Kyamk, I was let to experience facilities of design students. There are full of high tech equipment to support your study.

2. Studying

- The grade of KyAMK’s entrance exam is stability over years. It remains 68 ~ 71. You will not be worry too much about entrance exam grade ;)

- As I am now studying International Business, I type here information about this degree ;) After your first year in KyAMK, you will choose your major, Marketing or Trade. In general, Kyamk is well known for Marketing segment. In the first semester, I studied some courses related to Marketing. And here is some feedbacks  Teacher innovate you with different kinds of method. It is not only listen to the definition, case study, example and so on. In my Marketing class, we learn how to work creatively with new technical tools in Internet such as Jing (video maker), Primary Pad, Padlet, etc. Sometimes, our group made poster about particular topic and presented it to our classmates. Creative way of learning develops your communication skills, ability of working in teams, generation of unique ideas.

- KyAMK and MAMK (Mikkeli) cooperate to become joint publication over years. It means that you can approach wider network of UAS.

- KyAMK has wide range of partners with many institutions and university in Europe as well as in China. You can find and enjoy great exchange time in Kyamk!

3. Life in KyAMK and Kouvola

- In my first semester, students were offered many trips to different locations near Kouvola to have realistic experience besides theories from school. I have visited UPM factory, giant paper making company in Finland. In the International Week, we have had a trip to Verla – mill village, a UNESCO World heritage site. In the weekend, students also have relax time on trip to Repovesi National Park (nice view and nature area) to enjoy Finnish nature and culture. And all of these are free =))))))) Here are some photos!

- There are many kinds of events during academic year and parties so you won’t get bored.

- You are free to use gym facilities in Kouvola centre!

I cannot make a comparison between UAS in Finland  but every school has its own strengthens and weaknesses. In general, Kyamk is a good destination for your higher education and future. At least, until now I do not regret about my choice.
If you have any question concerned about application, feel free to ask me after this post :) :D
