Applying for bachelors - what to send?

Post by Markmywords » Sat Jan 17, 2015 2:03 am

Hi all

In order to apply for bachelors courses in Finland it seems that in addition to applying online I have to post (not email!) my academic certificates [was this your experience too?].

I already have a bachelors degree in a different subject; should I just send a copy of that or should I also send my upper secondary certificates (A-level certificates that I took in the UK, age 16-18)? Or both?

Thanks for any advice with this.

Come on, mate. It says it right there on the website! It says that you need to send your upper-secondary certificate by post. That's it.
There's really no room for questions or personal experience differences. It's an extremely simple matter.

P.S. Why not apply directly for a Master's degree? There are a few universities that have very low standards and will take pretty much anybody who applies.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Cheers mate, yes I did see that, but since I already have a degree I was wondering if I could just send my degree cert. I was wondering if anyone had been through the process in this regard (?). Of course I imagine many people applying for degrees will have only just completed upper secondary, but then there are others perhaps looking at a career change and I wonder if upper secondary results are so applicable after already completing a degree. Regards

I've been in the same situation. Degree from back home and applying to one on the same level in Finland. Sending my degree with the upper-secondary certificate had absolutely no effect. Actually, they even asked me why I sent the degree as they don't even look at it.

But still, why not appl for Master's? I've seen many people going from Bachelor's in one field to a Master's in an unrelated field. Like I said, a lot Finnish universities have low standards and are dying for more students, so they might bend the rules sometimes.
