visa electron from bank abroad
visa electron from bank abroad
Hi friends
I have problem i don't know if one of you face the same situation or not
I have Visa electron from bank out of europe. I can easly withdraw money from otto machine but it doesn't work in food stores or in shopping in general even in stores carries visa label.
i called the bank abroad they told me it should be work in finland. I'm in Aland now. Do i need to ask any bank here why it didn't work in stores or its common situation ?!

Re: visa electron from bank abroad
VISA electron is not the same as a VISA. Lots of shops do not take electron.. it is up to the shop and sometimes it is a lousy deal for the shopkeeper.
Get a normal VISA.
Get a normal VISA.
Re: visa electron from bank abroad
I have nordea visa electron and its work very well in same stores !!! . So what the difference between nordea visa eelectron and bank abroad visa electron as both have same lebel ?!!
Re: visa electron from bank abroad
Is your visa electron a chip card? If not then there is a certain limitation for use. Basically, chip Visa electron cards can be used even if there is no visa electron sign is present. And vise versa non chip electron cards may not be used even if visa electron sign is present. But of course , nowdays most visa electron cards are chip cards. Talking to any banks in Åland is fruitless , they do not control or supervise visa limitation - only your bank can do it.
What do you want from me?????
Re: visa electron from bank abroad
The shopkeepers need a contract with a transition handler (intermediate between shop and bank) if they use these electronic payment devices.
The contract can be for all cards or Finnish cards only. (there is a price difference) So in some places it might work, in others not.
Bank accept all cards.

Btw.. also you need funds on your account for the electron. It is not a credit card.
