Political change?
Political change?
The winds of political climate change are blowing a little stronger with this article in the Helsingin Sanomat. Depending on the hysteria he can stir up among the voters, possible changes may make life somewhat more difficult for a lot of us. For those of us who hope to spend the rest of our lives in Finland, it's important to police our own ranks and weed out those who would make it difficult for all the rest. There is a reason many of us prefer Finland over the countries of our birth.
Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.
Re: Political change?
Thats not the Helsinki Sanomat it's the Helsinki Times. It's about as relevant as a fart in a wind tunnel.

What a writer - what an article - he borrowed american quotes to define situation in Finland. Was he really a Finn

I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse. I'm gonna grant him all my old underwears that fit his head helping his nose stays in place
Re: Political change?
Oh, silly me, somehow I was given the understanding that the "Helsinki Times" is the English translation of the "Helsingin Sanomat". As far as relevancy goes, it depends on how potent the fart is and if you are upwind or downwind. I have no idea how influential Hirvisaari may ultimately be, but it only takes a small push to start a boulder rolling down the hillside.irnbru wrote:Thats not the Helsinki Sanomat it's the Helsinki Times. It is. This may have (probably has) appeared on it's opinion pages. Nevertheless, I chuckled at the photo caption:mrjimsfc wrote:Oh, silly me, somehow I was given the understanding that the "Helsinki Times" is the English translation of the "Helsingin Sanomat".irnbru wrote:Thats not the Helsinki Sanomat it's the Helsinki Times. - James Hirvisaari is a Parliament Member and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the political party Muutos 2011 (Change 2011).
Hirvisaari is the only MP of that "party", which only exists because he was kicked out of PerSu.
Re: Political change?
Helsinki Times is quite a piece of work. Have to watch what you say about it though as the owneris fairly litigious. It's a bit scary if it's true it's getting on all the Finnair flights and hotel lobbies for visiting foreigners to read as the number one English publication.mrjimsfc wrote:Oh, silly me, somehow I was given the understanding that the "Helsinki Times" is the English translation of the "Helsingin Sanomat". Re: Political change?
Helsingin Sanomat quit its rather good but limited service a few years back.
Helsinki Times is about as valid a newspaper as a roll of industrial slivery one-ply is valid compared to triplesoft Lambi.
What comes to Muutos2011 its been around since 2010 or so. One of the main goals is Swiss style "direct democracy" as in plebiscites as opposed to voting in 200 turncoats you never know what they'll vote for in the end. They have a pretty relaxed agenda otherwise, Hirvisaari is the only MP and he wasn't voted in on their ticket, but joined up after he got booted out of PerSu.
I don't see anything much radical in what he writes. It is a fact that the truth is hid from the public. Read for example the news on the gang rape on Amorella. "Swedish" men indeed, what made Börje and Håkan do such a thing? At least thats what they want you to believe it was Börje & Håkan and Pelle & Göran... The truth hurts multiculturalism...

Re: Political change?
I'm not making this country "multicultural" in any way?
I've learned the language and manners. I am not demanding special services in Finnish, and I actually say hello to people on the street, use 'please', 'thank you' and all the necessary platitudes. I dress like a poofy parrot instead of in proper black and grey. I go to a pub for watching the football and engage in banter and don't complain the lack of hockey on TV. I eat beans on toast and am sometimes putting milk in my tea instead of demanding rye bread and fresh herring. I've not even complained to the council that saunas in town are all homoerotic and offensive to my religion. Plus the fact I'm not on benefits with a dozen kids demanding a bigger council house with a sauna and a reindeer pen... So where exactly you get me being "multicultural" exactly? Do I sit in a cafe all day and hang around with other Finns and harrass the women passing by?
I'm quite well integrated thank you... OK, maybe not perfect, I draw the line maybe on morris dancing, but time will tell.
And pray tell me why I should move to Lieksa, I am not a self-hating communist or a multiculturalism advocate or a green treehugger without any job prospects? I don't fancy retiring quite yet and definitely not to some dying no-future Nowheremäki like Lieksa with its corrupt council - the village I retire to got to have a temperate climate and palm trees to outweigh all those factors, not a meter of snow and man-eating mosquitoes

Re: Political change?
That's good if you are trying hard to leave your Finnishness behind and trying to become an English. But it doesn't matter how hard you try you can never be an English. You can never speak the language like the English and you can never think the way the English think, or at least not exactly. You are diluting the culture despite of all of your efforts, may be to a leeser degree but you are diluting it.
Lieksa I suggested because you'll feel more at home with regards to your views about immigration.

Re: Political change?
My views on immigration? So am I a self-hating communist, a multiculturalism advocate or a green treehugger? Confused now.

Re: Political change?
Well I am more interested in knowing how an immigrant can complain himself about multiculturism? Sounds a bit silly
Re: Political change?
Nah, you don't get it. All immigrants are dickheads.. except me! They never integrate.. except for me. Immigration is bad.. except in my case. Multiculturalism is bad.. except when I am the one going to a different culture. Whatever I do, it's called integration.. even if they do the same, they're destroying our country.Honest wrote:Well I am more interested in knowing how an immigrant can complain himself about multiculturism? There. Made it more clear.
This reminds me of Putin supporters who live in Finland or the United States and refuse to go back to live in Russia. Zero sense being made.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Re: Political change?
Multiculturalism is a warped and destructive political ideology. So is communism and whatever you call what greens are doing. I can be an immigrant, aim for social equality and promote nature preservation without adhering to these ideologies.
You are in some sort of illusion just because you are an immigrant you have to vote for people advocating destroying their own country. I wouldn't vote for Labour here nor the Greens. I'd rather vote for UKIP just due to their stance on curbing the EU.
