need an experts opinion

Post by fastandcurious » Sun Oct 18, 2015 8:01 pm

I have been working in posti for around 5 months as a helsinki sanomat deliverer. I earned more than 1200 per month so i want to change my status from B to A. Can I apply for that? As i came here as a student, is it mandatory to show while applying that how much credits I have completed? I suppose A status means work visa so i wonder why does it mandatory (if it is) to show completed credits?

If you apply for a work-based residence permit, then your application will be assessed based on the criteria of work-based residence permit, which doesn't include anything regarding study credits.
Can you apply? Yes. Will you get accepted? Depends. It all depends on the nature of your employment.

Anecdotally, I've heard some people getting their work-based A RP on their Posti work, and I've also heard some people were rejected. So, try and see.

Do not know why specifically but I was asked for the transcript when I applied for my working RP. Bring your transcript with you just in case :)

If you have already graduated, then the degree/transcript can be useful for bypassing the market criteria (faster processing time and higher chance of success). The other possibility is that if you're applying for the fast-track work-based RP (Specialist); in that case your studies matter.

Well I was studying at the time I applied and I only applied for normal working RP. The reason I got from police officer when I asked why was "To see how much you had completed" :)

They have a dedicated eService just for that https://enterfinland.fi/eServices/
Go there, create an account (or login with something), fill the e-form, and submit. Always make electronic application when possible.

If you are a student, I hope for your sake you haven't been working over the allowed time limit of working hours. They'll notice it when you apply.
