I just joined the forum today and i would love to hear your suggestions on how to resolve a wrong parking fine.
I live in Helsinki and I bought a car a few days ago. I have already requested the Housing company for parking space but none is available currently. As such, I have been parking my car in the free parking lots around my place.
There are two parking lots where cars are allowed to be parked for free for a certain time period. parking lot A has free parking allowance for 12 hours ad parking lot B has the same allowance for 4 hours (Parking lot B is relatively closer to my place).
So the story goes like this: On Friday evening, I parked the car at Parking lot B at 7 pm after coming back from work. As this parking lot has limit of only 4 hours, I moved my car from there to Parking lot A at around 10:30 Friday night, so that I can park the car there overnight (as it has 12 hours limit). Today morning (Saturday), I took my daughter to school and then parked the car at Parking lot B at 9:55 morning. However, when i came back to my car at around 1 pm, I was surprised to see a parking ticket. the reason for the ticket was that I have just increased the time on the parking meter (parkki kiekko) without moving the car.

Now, i think that the parking inspector might have visited the parking lot on Friday night before I moved my car and today, when he saw my car parked at the same place, he wrote me a ticket for increasing the time on parkki kiekko without moving the car. This is kind of absurd and ridiculous. Do i get a fine for parking my car at the same spot as it was parked the day before? Why should I pay the fine when I have done anything wrong as I moved my car to a different parking lot for the night and then parked at the same spot today morning..
How can I resolve this situation? I intend to call the parking company to register my complain but in case if they don't cooperate and insist on me paying the fine, what are my options. Why should i pay for something which clearly isn't my fault...Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated...Thanks
