Residence permit application forms
A residence permit application may be submitted to a Finnish mission (embassy or consulate) abroad or to the local police in Finland. The police departments of some of the larger cities in Finland can have their own units for permit matters concerning foreign nationals. Contact your local police to find out which service point in the area deals with permit matters.
Check that nothing is missing before you submit your application
Make sure that you have all the necessary attachments and documents before you start filling in your application. A list of required attachments is at the end of the application form.
Fill out the application form carefully. If you are using a paper form to apply for a permit, remember to sign the form.
If any details or attachments are missing, it will delay the processing of your application and your application can be rejected.
You can apply for a Finnish personal identity code at the same time as you apply for a residence permit. More information can be found on the ‘Personal identity code’ page.
Instructions for filling out the application form can be found under Frequently asked questions.
Note! To apply for registration of EU citizens or for a residence card of a family member of an EU citizen you must use other forms and submit the application to the local police. These forms are available at www.poliisi.fi. You can apply for registration and residence card also electronically.
A fee will be charged for the processing of an application.

−the general partner in a limited partnership (kommandiittiyhtiö) (not a sleeping partner)

For the purposes of this application, a person is not considered self-employed if he or she is employed in the service of a limited company of which he or she is the owner, not even when in possession of the entire share capital. If you own shares of a public limited company (osakeyhtiö, oy) and you work in this company, you will need a residence permit for an employed person (form OLE_TY1).

Yes there is a certain percentage involved. if you have any friends in the insurance industry kindly check with them. if you hold less then 27 % of the shares, you are considered as a employee. There are many steps and procedures to go thru.

From your own quote of Migri material:babyloner wrote:OY
Which you then contradict yourself:babyloner wrote: For the purposes of this application, a person is not considered self-employed if he or she is employed in the service of a limited company of which he or she is the owner, not even when in possession of the entire share capital. What do people in the insurance industry have to do with anything? Yes there are percentage limits (30%) for pension insurance purposes but that has nothing to do with residence permits.babyloner wrote: Yes there is a certain percentage involved. if you have any friends in the insurance industry kindly check with them. if you hold less then 27 % of the shares, you are considered as a employee. Since it's an OY owning the shares is not what entitles to the residence permit, it's actually working in the restaurant that does it.babyloner wrote: Whomever is interested can either 1. change from student permit , related field of course, Food and beverage , Hospitality management etc ,and file an Application for work permit/residence permit. Doesnt matter how many shares you own. you are considered a shareholder who works in the company.Smaller shareholdings can change the way your company is forced to pay YEL OR TyEL(pensions) for you.
This business opportunity needs an employment residence permit
