Change in address during the resident permit process

Post by Oombongo » Wed Jun 29, 2016 5:36 pm

I am going to move to new apartment from Helsinki to Espoo. Got married and applied for residence permit for wifey on 20.05 in Pasila, Helsinki.
Now they have sections/blocks for misc/additional information in the forms, and I wrote my new address and when I will move there. I also mentioned the same verbally when we showed up in Pasila.
I wonder if I need to call them or send them email, or how can I tell them about the change in address. Would that information in form, or should I inform them once again? Because the next reservation seems to be available in late August.

Was anyone in the same situation here?

I was in the same situation not very long ago. The difference is that I didn't add the new address in the "Additional information" box on the RP application.
When I moved, I went to Migri e-services, uploaded a PDF containing my new address and named it "new_address_ddmmyy.pdf". The residence permit card was delivered to the new address.

Since you already wrote in the "additional information" box, in my opinion it's fine. I'm sure they read that section as I've used it before for information about my passport.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Make sure you update the population register. They do have access to that.

So from your experiences, who made the decision on your residence permit, was it the local police of your old municipality or the new one where you moved during the residence permit processing?
