TV and Broadband

Post by ronnie24 » Thu Aug 25, 2016 8:26 am

HI,

I'll be moving to FInland in November and I want to get my utilities in order before hand. Can anyone recommend the best company to use for TV and broadband in the Turku area?

Basically you'll need cable for foreign channels or sports. For movies, GoT etc. try Netflix or HBO nordic with chromecast or smart tv.

Interet: wired or wireless? DNA, Sonera, Elisa/Saunalahti will have both.

I guess Elisaviihde would be your cheapest choice (TV and Broadband in one package) you can add Netflix and HBO to that if you pay extra. But... this depends greatly on the availability of Elisa broadband (speed should be at least 20Mbit/s for reasonable playback).

sometimes the housing company were you rent (if you rent), have the basic broadband (motly 10Mbit/s up and down) included in the rent, for 10 euro's a month more this can (if available) go up to 10/100Mbits up/down.

Mobile internet is also possible (4G) but this is not as stable as Cable or VDSL / Fiber

Combinations are also possible: for example High speed Cable internet from DNA (if elisa only delivers ADSL2) and the digibox with subscription from ElisaViihde (5000 hours online TV recording storage space for all the free channels).

good luck in choosing

You might also want to check out several VPN providers to hide your traffic for some (pseudo) privacy 8)
If god would give us the source code, we could change the world
