Best place to find English-speaking tech jobs?

Hello,

I'm a 22 year old Canadian with a technical IT diploma of computer systems and 2.5 years related work experience as a junior sysadmin (in an education environment, I should add). I don't speak Finnish. I found a job board with English jobs, but it seems to have not been updated in over a year. I tried sending my CV and cover letter to a few english-speaking international schools, but they don't have any open tech positions at this time. Any ideas? Specific companies I could check out? My preference is actually moving to Turku, but I imagine my chances of finding an english job there are slim to none.

To expand on that an employer can't take you on unless you already have permission to live here for a different reason (ie family member lives here) or because they are essentially unable to fill that position with anyone in the entire EU. It requires headache paperwork and a lot of time so no employer will bother. Finland is a very highly-educated society.

Yes, your application will always be binned. You are not tasty enough for them to go through the agony of importing you right now. They'll just employ a Finn. People with that level of education here are a dime a dozen and they speak Finnish, so will beat you hands down.

Get a skill that is in short supply and you will increase your chances exponentially. Forget about formal qualifications; read the job ads that are in Finnish (lots of patience and translation required) and find out what's in demand. Learn it yourself, entirely doable via the internet and sheer effort. Then try again.
