What about girls football in Helsinki?
A friend of mine and his 11 year old daughter will be in Helsinki from July 9-22, 2005. She is a very competitive footballer and is playing in a big tournament when she returns to the states. So, she would like to play and train with an appropriate age team in Helsinki. Can anyone help me with contact information? At least the name of football clubs in Helsinki that might have programs for girls of this age.
Many Thanks From Beautiful Washington State, USA

football in helsinki
Hi,
We're playing football in Helsinki every Tuesday evening 18:30 throughout summer. Artificial grass pitch near the International School in Ruoholahti (7 minutes walk from Metro station Ruoholahti). We're not too young, and not too serious. If you're interested, join us.

And junior league football in Finland is EXTREMELY bureaucratic... you have to belong to a club (pay club fee), then get a licence to the Federation (another fee) and then insurance.... in order to play in matches. I guess you could train with a team if the coach is willing but as saksamies said, the Helsinki Cup is on from 11-18th July and I guess the teams will be so (seriouslyTodd Schilperoort wrote:A friend of mine and his 11 year old daughter will be in Helsinki from July 9-22, 2005. Bad timing I'm afraid

But your daughter may like to go along and watch some of the matches - girls football is very popular in Finland and some of the teams are really good. Girls also play in the boys teams - my 9 yr old has a girl in his team (he plays with FC Honka Jedit) and my 13 yr old (who's a defender for FC Honka Predators) has often had to tackle girls
