Close account from abroad (Danske, within EU)

Hi,
I'm starting procedures to leave Finland and return to my home country (within EU).

Do you have idea what to do with bank account? It is like "catch 22". I should not close it before everything else (aparment rent, taxes, salary) is resolved. But when I leave apartment and return to home country I don't want to fly back to Finalnd just to close the bank account.

Ideal would be if it is posible to

• close the account with delay

• close the account remotely (by e-banking or phone)

I asked Danske Bank by email, but they actually gave mi false information:

Thank you for contacting us! When you are moving outside of Finland, you can still have your bank services in Danske Bank Finland. I kindly ask you to keep your bank identifiers so you will be able to close all needed services when it is convenient to you. You are then able to close services through customer service or on eBank. I kindly ask you to inform your new address when you move, so we are able to deliver additional key cards to you.

When closing account, all cards attached to closed accounts will be terminated, so then I would recommend you to cut the card in half and dispose properly. Just inform us when you are ready to close bank services so we will be able to help and service you.

I looked into eBank
"Terms and setting > terms > close"
and it turns out that
"Account can not be closed in eBanking. Please contact Danske Bank customer service 0200 2590 Mon-Fri 9-18 (lnc/mnc) to close the account."

Maybe it is possible over the phone but also maybe a valtakirja left with someone you trust to do it after you leave? Best thing to do would be to ask directly from the bank. I am sure you are not the first in this situation.

None of those needs Finnish bank account afaik. Vero.fi even says to put BIC if you give them foreign account number.
