Hi
I have applied for the residence permit after being accepted for Bachelor's course at Aalto University.
It has taken the finland embassy around 2 weeks and they have not yet provided me an appointment for my RP application interview.
I am getting a bit anxious as to if the RP does not come on time, will I not be able to go to Finland. So, I have the below questions if anyone can help me find the answers.
1. Once the applicant has the RP interview done, does the RP gets issued in 1-2 days or it still takes them 15 days. Anyone has an experience in this regards.
2. If the RP does not come on time, can I go their on a tourist visa and convert the same to RP in Finland.
3. Will the Finland embassy consider a request based on legitimate urgency... or they just don't care.

Hi
Have you tried to write an email to Finland embassy in your country? I did this before and it works, they write back to me quickly
. And tell you something I just heard today for reference only, every single visa application is responsible to a certain officer, and if this guy happened to be on his vacation then your visa will be a delay. I think it can also make sense about your RP problem.
I don't think come to Finland with a traveling visa is a good idea, there are some reasons
1 when you arriving in Finland the custom officer will need you to show your return ticket and the place you live during your stay (usually a hotel for tourist) you can not tell him you are a Ph.D. student in Aalto even you really are because your RP dealy is not his responsibility.
2 If you are lucky enough to convince the customs officer or just book a return ticket and hotel pretend to be tourist, but you can not rent a house for longtime living, can not have a bank account for you Ph.D. salary
,you even can not have Aalto staff ID then how can you work for your boss...... that's the worst part.
3 apply for an RP after arriving in Finland usually takes a lot of time too, for me, it's much convenient to do this in my hometown because all my information and paperwork base in there.here is the migri website if you wanna check https://migri.fi/haluan-oleskeluluvan
Maybe try to communicate with your boss in Aalto, take some time.
ps:
I am not a native English user, still working on it, sorry for the grammatical mistake I made, but I think maybe I can present some suggestions for you, hope that would be a help, good luck!
