Question on behalf of a friend:

38 year old asian moving to Finland on inter company transfer along with 17year old dependent.

Does the dependent get same status (residence permit type as parent) as parent after turning 18?

And actually what it's stated in Migri's website is that the residence permit for a family member based on a guardian's residence permit is granted only for children under 18 years old, so I don't know how would that work.

Sorry for resurrect and old post, as there is not a lot of clear information on this specific scenario.

It's not clear because let's say you have a dependent that is 17 or 16 years old, and you apply for an extended residence permit for work which is granted for 4 years,the question is: the son is still under age 18, so would the child be granted a 4 years permit same as the parent?

Anyone with any similar experience?
