Hello everyone
I have been in Finland for a year and I just got my residence permit type A last month I registered to the T E office July 15th and I got appointments from them to get registered and try my language skills.
My question is, will I be Able to receive unemployment benefits after they register me or only after they find me to language school?
Thanks
T E Toimisto
Re: T E Toimisto
You are eligible to receive unemployment fund from the day which you register as a job seeker (unemployed). However, once you are asked to start a language course, you have to follow that very strictly, otherwise they will cut the benefits.Ousman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:53 amHello everyone

BTW, there are little bit extra payment if you are attending the course.

Like agergis said, you can get unemployment benefits, but you basically have to do everything that TE Toimisto wants from you, even if you don't like it. The language school is, as far as I have heard to last time I was at a TE Toimisto Office, only half a year, after that you work another half a year for free for K-Market or R Kiosk or something like that. I think that is a very bad offer. Maybe they have changed it already, I don't know. I personally decided to not go with their Immigration plan, also because I was pregnant at that moment and my child is now 21 month old. I did many finnish courses outside. Some of them are even for free, some of them not, but choose that what is best for you. The Immigration plan isn't bad, but not for everone either.
Re: T E Toimisto
You should get the benefits after you get registered (or after "karenssi" if that applies to you), it has nothing to do about when you start attending language courses. You just get slightly more money when you do attend the courses.Ousman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:53 amHello everyone

EDIT: I didn't notice that this has been already answered.
