Hi,

How does the private health insurance work here (we both have KELA cards, but never bought any private insurances)?

My question is, if You would like to take some laboratory test, does it always need to be referred by a doctor, so that it will be accepted by the insurance company? Could You initiate some lab tests without doctor's referral?

Also, which insurance company has better policy?

Merely to get a lab test done, no, you do not need a referral. HOWEVER...

If you want the lab tests to be covered under an insurance provider scheme, you will need a doctor's referral as far as I am aware.
