My mum and I live in England, I am trying to obtain a copy of my Finnish mother's birth certificate as she appears to lave lost it, she doesn't even remember ever having seen it. She does have a passport though which is good.
I have gone on the Maistraati website but there is no link for birth certificates, only marriage certificates and every other certificate you can think of.
Could anyone tell me how I can request a copy of this? Thank you

Finland has no birth certificates so she never had one.CarrieB wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 4:37 pmMy mum and I live in England, I am trying to obtain a copy of my Finnish mother's birth certificate as she appears to lave lost it, she doesn't even remember ever having seen it. Re: Copy of Finnish Birth Certificate?
I was applying for my son's dual citizenship and needed a Finnish birth certificate. However, as others have said, Finland does not issue birth certificates. What I did get was an extract from the population registry (with apostille if I recall) and that was an acceptable substitute. If she was born in Finland then you should be able to order one fairly easily.
