Hello,
i am searching the migri page for days now but cant find a sufficient answer. I am a German and my fiancee is a Finn. We met on my holiday in Finnland 1,5 years ago ans are a couple for 1,5 years. We do not live together and he never lived abroad. We want to get married next year and actually the plan was that he moves to Germany but as he still hast to finnish a project we decided that i will move to him.
Is it possible for me to move there as his wife even if we did not live together yet?

If you are asking whether you can register right if residence based on marriage, then the answer is no. However, the de facto same result can be achieved with registration based on sufficient funds due to your husband having a duty to support you based on Finnish marriage law and having the associated paper work (bank account statements, salary slips etc). There is also the national law backup that, if registration of right of residence is not possible, then you can apply for a residence permit based on marriage and there is no means of support test for those permits.Charlotte Demidov wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 11:57 amBecause we didnt live together yet i can not register based on family ties. Mixing everything here. EU citizens don't need a residence permit, they only register right of residence which is a much simpler and cheaper process. There also means of support in case of people married with Finnish citizens.

You did not understand.
Registering the own right of residence requires sufficient funds.
Residence permit for spouse of a Finnish citizen does not require sufficient funds.

Thank you guys for your help. Yes, thats what i found out, he needs to fund me but no specified amount when married. Just being married will not make it possible for me to move. Im already applying for jobs and i hope i find one before we marry. Just to make sure: I am not getting married because i want to move and get any social benefits. i want to live with my fiancee on our money.
