I just moved to Finland from the UK on the 18th, the earliest appointment at migri was on the 5th of October, since I had to remain in self-isolation for 2 weeks. I have a contract for 2 years that will be then extended for another 2 years afterwards. My employer advised me to register my right of residence and then in the field where it says 'Period of residence ends' to select the option entitled 'I am moving to Finland permanently'. I also rang up the Migri customer support to ask their advice about this and they suggested the same.
My question is, is this wrong? I thought you have to be in Finland for 5 years before you have right of permanent residency. It's also confusing that the same form is used for both registration of right of residency and right of permanent residency. Many of the fields are adaptive on the form, displaying only when needed, yet having selected 'I am registering my right of residency', not 'permanent residency', the option to not give a date for the end of your residency period is permitted.
Am I worrying over nothing or have I made a fatal error?
Thanks.

You are confusing immigration intention and eligibility. If you don’t know when you are leaving, you are moving to be in Finland permanently.BritishTree wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 1:07 pmI just moved to Finland from the UK on the 18th, the earliest appointment at migri was on the 5th of October, since I had to remain in self-isolation for 2 weeks. Re: Right of residence under the Withdrawal Agreement
Right, that makes sense. I just wish it was a little clearer... So am I OK do you reckon?
Edit: Additionally, I've noticed that I've proved my identity and on EnterFinland my application has turned from being red to green, but it still says 'Waiting to be processed'. Has anyone any idea of how long this is taking at the moment for those wishing to register their right of residence under the Withdrawal agreement?
