The 400D (aka Rebel XTi) is a very good camera. If you end up doing a lot of portraits of the kid(s), I'd highly recommend getting a 50mm 1.8 lens. The kit lenses don't take sharp pictures and they really suck for indoor light. And on amazon.com they are only $79. So I'd expect 100e here.Karibu wrote:Hey, good for youl My wife has already bought Canon D400, so there's something for us to work with in future years.Xochiquetzal wrote:Camera has been sold. I would suggest you try gimpshop, it operate very much like photoshop - most photoshop tutorials can even be used on it!!Karibu wrote:I have tired Gimp and I didn't like it much. Perhaps that Photoshop elements is found as freeware? Have to check tucows...donald wrote:Gimp comes in handy when you need to to manipulate pictures only every now and then. But it's usability is still way behind photoshop.
Some time ago I saw an ad for a free edition of Photoshop Elements when buying a printer. Can't remember which brand it was, but the printer in question was not one of the most expensive ones. You might consider this option and shop around.
Plus it works on all OS's -windows, mac and linux
