Not sure about envy. IMO it is also sour grapes... the fact that digital photography has made photography accessible to a wider audience just pi$$e$ off some of these old cronies. They would like to keep their little camera club for themselves. Nowadays, anyone can take a photo and mess around with it in Photoshop and upload it onto the web, no need to be a chemistry graduate, no need to have a little black den with a red lamp and strings and pegs hanging from the ceiling. But as sammy said, that doesn't make them an artist. I think "pro" photographers should be positive about photography appealing to the masses. It gives the art more visibility, more and more people I know visit photography exhibitions than ever before. More and more people are buying photos. More and more people are trying to understand photography and appreciate it.
What is onegammyleg's motivation in trying to run somebody down (who clearly has a passionate interest in the subject)? Curious (sad) reaction.
Just Upgraded Camera to Nikon D80 - My Vacation Pics? :)
Digital photography has made my life so much easier. I usually only take photos when travelling. It's made a big difference to be able to burn to CD and send a copy home.
I've saved $1000's of dollars and I noticed my photos instantly improved after switching to a (cheap, simple) digital camera.
Plenty of travel photos to look at if you click the link in my signature line.
P.S Ignore the troll

The "Brasil gallery" introduction pic from Rio is a very nice one (Christo Rei and the moon)!mago wrote:Plenty of travel photos to look at if you click the link in my signature line.
