well, one of the reasons why people don't like UFC is due to them making MMA mainstream in the US. there is of course no problems with this, it's technically better for the sport, but, you get a lot of idiots who jump aboard the bandwagon and act like arses when they watch MMA. Take for example, compare PRIDE fights in Japan (where ALL fighters, no matter if they're popular or a no name) to the UFC fights in the US. In EVERY UFC fight, you hear the fighters get booed. For what reason? Because there's too much groundgame? At least that's one of the reasons...little do they know that a big part of MMA IS BJJ, wrestling, etc - people need to start looking at how technical and beautiful these particular martial arts are. The US public should also respect the fighters.
My reasons as to why i liked PRIDE as to the UFC
In the PRIDE ring, head stomps were allowed. It'll be interesting to see how Wanderlei does in the UFC since that's his signature move - the head stomp, which he can't do anymore.
Pride's 1st round was 10 mins...truly shows the endurance/cardio of a fighter. UFC...5 mins.
Pride didn't have the 10 point mark system like they do in the UFC.
The fighters were paid decent wages unlike in the UFC where the management gets all the money.
Fighters are only allowed to fight in the UFC if they sign a contract. This is why Fedor hasn't signed with the UFC yet - he also competes in international sambo competitions and if he signed with the UFC, that means bye bye to his original roots.
Well, that's all that i can think of for now. But for sure i'm going to enjoy my first MMA event...my husband i'm sure will enjoy it too though his friends used to be in MMA here in Finland and he's watched a few finnfight events and such.
Here's my predictions for UFC 75
Quinton Jackson vs.
Dan Henderson (though I like both fighters, Hendo has the advantage on the ground - though it'd be cool to actually hear hendo get slammed by rampage

)
Matt Hamill vs.
Michael Bisping
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipović vs. Cheick Kongo
Houston Alexander vs. Alessio Sakara
Paul Taylor vs.
Marcus Davis
Thiago Silva vs. Tomasz Drwal (not sure about this one really - could be close)
Naoyuki Kotani vs. Dennis Siver
Anthony Torres vs. Jess Liaudin
Gleison Tibau vs. Terry Etim
