Just curious, but it would be interesting to see how much alcohol related illnesses cost the state. If there were some kind of penalty, such as out of pocket costs paid by the patient, (besides the high taxes on alcohol) for alcohol related illnesses in hospitals, I wonder how much money that would save, that could then be invested in motivated, hard working nurses.
Sounds harsh? Well I'm tired of all the screw ups that get their spilt milk wiped up by the government multiple times. Sure, it's nice the government takes some responsibility a few times, everyone is entitled to some help and some hard times, but when are all these people going to grow up and contribute something to society? Of course labor, the cost of living, and benefits are expensive when there is a not working, not contributing group that just sucks off the rest of society. I know it is more complicated and this isn't a black and white issue, but again, just curious about the health care related costs.
Nurses deserve more money. Now it's the government's job to figure out where it comes from. This way nurses are motivated, and maybe just maybe, there would be an actual real outside imposed consequence on anti-social activity and behavior. I'm sure this will spawn an alcoholism is a disease debate, and I agree. But seriously, can you imagine how much money is literally drunk, vomited, and pissed out on that in Finland?
