This has changed; nowadays polytechnics/UASs are funded according to the calculatory number of students AND the number of degrees completed during the past two years. Earlier their funding was based only on the number of students enrolled as present.Hank W. wrote:There is a difference3 between poly and uni funding IIRC, was it per enrolled and per graduated in time

I'm not *that* interested
But I've been trying to get my router to accept my VPN to school all night I'd find it a nice diversion
Yes, the only night I would have the energy to watch those online lectures... I got it to function from work. And too lazy to drive there.

Cheers, Hank W.

No, you wrote several sentences - of which I could not understand a single one. Now tell me, were you there splitting infinitives like the rest of the freeloaders, or mopping the floor so you actually have some right to opine how your tax monies are thrown out the window to ungrateful insolent beggars?

I'm puzzled though. When I was at Uni (OK late 70s) we had to write essays and stuff like that. We didn't even have laptops in those days (in fact if we wanted to work on a computer we had to book up a week in advance and I vaguely remember some system involving punch cards and tickertape, anyway...) The essay assignments had to handed in and they were marked, graded and finally returned to us. The assignments counted towards our final degree.
How can anyone with no Finnish skills and only pre-intermediate English skills complete a degree course, let alone pass the exams? Are the final exams all multiple-choice papers these days? Don't students have to write stuff down any more?
I thought the Unis and polys were asking for TOEFL scores.... how do these students get through the TOEFL tests???
I don't doubt the intelligence or academic brilliance of these students, far from it.... but I just don't understand how they can get through a course without Finnish or English.

Puzzled and annoyed that Tax payer money (mine) is being used to entertain.."students" who cannot stand any chance of graduating..penelope wrote:I'm puzzled....

That is unless these educational establishments "cheat" by givng passes for un-readable course work.. or are the courses and exams done in some other language other than English or Finnish?
What language is this..?
dO UR EYES ONLY OPEN IN ONE LINE?
And what does it mean in English?
Please someone identify the educational establishment and the course..
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.
Cheating in Entrance Exams
Several students coming from South Asian countries, China and African countries never intended to study in Finland. They just come here to earn money by taking some odd jobs and to the best of my beliefs only 10 percent would ever complete their degrees.

On the other hand I know a few very industrious students finishing the thesis, so not all hope is lost.
These students did not know about the employment condition in this country. They just want to enter European Union and they can easily enter EU via Finland. If they don't get their money here, they have no qualms about illegaly sneaking into another EU country.

Oh no, it can't be true. The flower-hatted aunties will have a spiritual ebola. Warluses will beach and birds fly backwards in the air. Not to mention all the girls in Tampere fan club won't forgive you ever for slagging off their Timothy. No, see now you need to learn to take it like a Finnish man, just suck it up and stare into your pint.rapses wrote: They just want to enter European Union and they can easily enter EU via Finland.
