Maybe complaining about dark and cold winters. As if Finland would be the only one country in the world with cold winters. Is there a different kind of winter? Real winter I mean.

Soon, thanks to global warming, you will be complaining even more.

It's a big word to talk about "the world's worst weather," don't you think?
And I don't agree.

If you're so unhappy in Finland and dislike the weather so much? --even summer in Finaland?, I would say that forget about how expensive or cheap it could be, make up your mind and move somewhere else. You don't have to go that far either, just move a bit south.

BTW, why did you come to Finland in the first place? Finland is not going to change the weather because you don't like it. If you don't like it it's YOU who have to move.

beautiful and white snow

Blame global warming or even better, blame people who have caused global warming. The mother nature is not responsible and Finland is not either.

The poles are melting. Soon seeing some good snow is going to be difficult and future generations will see snow as we see the dinosours. Well not even that, they will see pictures.

Enjoy winter and snowy days while you can.

dreaming of a white Christmas

Hopefully it'll get colder, with some snow.
Yeah, that's the spirit. It will sure get colder and with some good snow. It will be very nice if we get a white Christmas this year. :D

moving around the world is just fun

No - but Mother Nature is!!!!! :D :(

I think all the posts above confirm that it has turned to sxxx! And unfortunately it is not just November which is, of course, totally ridiculous

And you don't move a lifetime of family, etc. with just money. But I'm sure there are a lot of people with 'less baggage' that are starting to do some thinking. And I've been hearing that an awful lot these last years.
I'm very, very happy to hear about it. :D *clapping, dancing and smiling*
That means if all the whinners finally move somewhere else the ones who really want to stay in Finland can enjoy it without having to deal with all that bad energy around.

I'm convinced that people shouldn't make their lives miserable and shouldn't live in places they don't like.

No, it's not impossible to move a lifetime of family as you say, my father did that many times when I was a kid. Moving countries was just like going on vacation. But he was and is a determined man who acts instead of complaining.

If you don't like it here, move your family somewhere else. Nothing bad will happen to them. They could even be happier. And you too.

changing in the Finnish climate

It's global warning perhaps.
We had a black Xmas up here in Jyväskylä last year, the one before was in '93 (I think) and the one before that in the 1970s. Average temps are on the increase, although there are still the extreme lows in the winter. I guess winter is shorter now than it used to be....

Some limited info here if you are interested:

Hei! Thanks for the link. =)
I'm very interested. I'm researching on the future of the Finnish environment and the changes in the Finnish climate.

If I recall, Helsinki is the world's most northern capital and has a very high percentage of the world's population above 60 degrees.

So when the weather is as it has been for a fair number of years now, it means the weather is crap and we're IN THE DARK most of the day.

That doesn't explain the bad summers too well though. Just have to really value the few sunny days there are. And keep your passport valid! :D
Oh boy! Do you do something else for the climate changes apart from complaining?

Pack your family and move somewhere else and be happy. I'm saying this in a way I hope you understand. I mean, I really understand if you're not happy here. There were times when I was not happy where I was living. I was just like you, just complaining. One day I became wise and realized the place was not going to change for me. I had to change, accept or move. I moved. My life changed. I changed. Since then, I moved many, many times and never stay in a place if I don't like it. I do whatever it takes to move. Once I lived in a place where the weather was 40C+ in the morning. I felt like chicken in the oven. I felt there was no oxygen in the air. I moved.

Think about it. Talk to your family. Study the map, work options, school options for the kids, make a plan, set a date. It's not easy but it's not impossible either. MOVE! and be happy.

Consider doing something for the weather changes so your grandchildren can play with snow balls instead of just listening to their grandpa telling stories of the white Christmas he remembers from the days he was younger.

Whinge moan sob,

we all do it from time to time. It isn't going to change the fact that it's dark most of the day though is it? The weather here is fine fine. Ok, some snow and some decent temperatures below -5 would be nicer than this grey mild weather we're having.
After spending 30 years in Ireland, living here is bliss weather-wise. Even with all the rain here, it's nothing compard to home, and it's the No.1 thing I miss least about Ireland.
As for the dark, well I'm heading to Thailand for two weeks at the end of January  so hopefully that will "break the back" of the winter for me.

Come on, it's not THAT bad!

Hei Kevin! It's nice to read a positive comment in the morning. Good attitude. Thanks! :D

Have a great time in Thailand and enjoy the snow when you come back to Finland.

I love the weather here, I've already built a snowman, had the kids out sledging, making snow angels and having snowball fights, ok it's all melted away right now, but I am sure we'll have snow again by the end of this week. And all the time we enjoy the snow we have a decent summer to look forward to. But then I was always used to Scottish weather, which was a bit like Autumn, Autmun, Spring, Autumn. So as far as I am concerned MOVE TO FINLAND, THE WEATHER IS GREAT! :D

Did you ever stop to think that some people actually like the weather here and would rather be in -25 than + 25 and higher? I grew up in Manchester which rains a hell of a lot and i love rain, it's nice and refreshing. The Summers here are perfect, the Winters here actually exist and i like the rain. So i'm pretty happy with "The world's worst weather".

I guess you think hot and sunny is the only good weather.

No,Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland, its only city and, with a latitude at 64°08' N, the world's most northern national capital.
