American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
Re: American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
Wish list:
--white or yellow corn tortillas - all corn, not that flour-corn mix junk offered now
or - corn masa for making own corn tortillas
--whole wheat tortillas at more stores (S-market more reliably stocks it right now)
--canned green tomatillo salsa - S market stocks it
--refried beans (sometimes they have it in Kamppi, sometimes not)
--real cheddar cheese (yes, they stock it in some stores, just let them know to keep at it!)
--ditto on the real hidden valley ranch dressing or ranch dressing powder mix
And while I'm making demands - nice if these "exotic" foods would also be available at myyrmäki or sello, not just kamppi.

A bit off-topic... about how many american people live in Finland ? I'm wondering if we could also do such a "lobby" to K-market for the French community. Good luck for getting your missed goods over here.

This doesn't really answer your question but I heard on tv today there are something like 10,500 people living in Finland with English as their mother tongue.Scribe wrote:A bit off-topic... about how many american people live in Finland ? Re: American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
Thanks jas_rho, there should/could be significantly more americans than French people here - about 1 500 IIRC.

I've heard of bisquick - what does one do with it??

I have a recipe for Bisquik substitute, but have never had a chance to try it. Maybe I should open my test kitchen.

I got a substitute recipe of a cooking site. It just isn't the same for me. I have my own from scratch recipes for biscuits and pancakes but Bisquick is still me favorite.karen wrote:I have a recipe for Bisquik substitute, but have never had a chance to try it. Maybe I should open my test kitchen.

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Re: American Items (In K-Market): Requests?
They have Bisquick Shake n' Pour in Iso Omena Citymarket in Espoo, so I assume they could also import (or actually ask their importer for) ordinary Bisquick if there were requests for it.

i noticed K-market, at least the Citymarket in Jumbo, has started to stock A&W Rootbeer, but I couldnt bring myself to buy one when I see the price tag at 1.75eur for the can and few steps away, 1.5l PET bottles of coke in 4s for 5eur.
