Re: Car Tire Quote
i rotate them once every season....and it seems to be fine...certainly didnt have the motivation to rotate them more often than that.
aguinness...may i know what do you mean by short life? am just curious. because based on my limited experience, hankook and kumho does last a lot longer because of the harder rubber composition....but sacrificing grip. the other makes, their lifespans are abt the same...

hant, It was a long time ago.IIRC about 20000 miles or 30000km approx. I consider that to be too short.

Re: Car Tire Quote
think the max km for tyre (as recommended by most manufacturers) is abt 50,000km...this is not considering the different terrain and individual driving style factors.
30 000km should be quite alright....
by the way, there's a shelf life for tyres too, its abt 5 years. maybe it should be clearer stamped on it like food stuffs..Best Before:(Date)

Re: Car Tire Quote
Try http://www.rengas-online.com I ordered a set of tires from there and ended up saving almost 500€ compared to the cheapest deal I found from a shop in town. You'll see on there some strange brands and some from china etc. I wouldn't recommend those. But you can order from here and pay somewhere in your area to put them on and balance them and usually still save money. The prices listed include shipping and it takes about a week to arrive.

Re: Car Tire Quote
Since I have not bought any tyres yet..I dont know this:
Do the tyres come with a RIM or should you buy that separately?
What if I have aluminum Summer tyres and normal Winter tyres?

Re: Car Tire Quote
those tyres price usually does not come with wheels...that is quoted separately...
hehe aluminium tyres...i bet those wont last as long as rubber ones....at least whoever drives on them wont last very long on the street.
that aside...i dont get your question what if you have aluminium wheels for your summer tyres and steel wheels for winter tyres?...what exactly are you asking?

Re: Car Tire Quote
No problem having alloy summer wheels & steel winter wheels. Or have two sets of alloys. Depends how nice you want your winter wheels to look
All of my sets are alloys, but winter alloys are smaller because tyres are more abundant and cheaper in 16" size for me. All depends on the car in question - I had to have winter alloys because I can't get steel wheels that give enough clearance for my front brakes. I often wish I hadn't bought the winter alloys, they are of a design that collects snow and gravel very easily, which tends to melt and then re-freeze when stationary. That causes the wheel to be out of balance and makes the car shake. I spedn a lot of time in the jet wash blasting them clean...
BTW, Rengasmailmaa in Espoo always gave me a good deal...

Man i got 4 tires 205/55R16 by 370 including balance and everything!!sinikala wrote:Duno about you, but in my experience, you'll never get as a good a deal on a pair as on a full set. Something to do with the number of tyres on a car, and the lack of willingness of a dealer to be stuck with an odd pair that they can't shift at the end of the year.hanj wrote:i am not sure how good of a deal is that...a quick look on Auto Arita shows this....
CONTINENTAL ECO CONTACT 3
175/65R14T 330.00
195/60R15H 418.00
205/55R16H 508.00
the 205/55 16 is always more expensive than the 60
fitting and balancing should be inclusive and standard in these offers.......and the choice btwn Continental vs Hankook?? I am sure you'll be able to find a lot more better thumbs up for the continentals
Re: Car Tire Quote
i noticed you didnt mention what tyre brands are those...if they are one of those crappy manufacturers, i wouldnt get those tyres if they pay me the 370euro.

Re: Car Tire Quote
Theres the + and - in having one set of rims
+ double set: you don't have to pay your ass off and wait a day for them to be checked
- you don't get them checked...
IN FINLAND YOU HAVE TWO SETS OF TYRES; WINTER & SUMMER - just live with it you whining wankers...
winters with studs and summer with not. And you pay for changing and for stowing... OR - you cn have M&S tyres for all weathers and then by jehovah you need to know how to drive.... I got M&S on my van. I've driven Finnish winters, and I drive that beast the piss in the sock even when its raining...
I've had re-threaded tires and had one burst on a highway me doing 130 or so... nice 2-3 years plus still as in depth, but deffo got a reminder

Re: Car Tire Quote
I have never paid for changing! and doesn´t everyone have storage at home? And you pay for changing and for stowing..

Re: Car Tire Quote
cant say I've heard of Tycoon brand of tyres before........you sure its made by continental? sport tyres? how do you define it being sport tyres?
as for paying for changing and storing.....guess one dont have to pay for those if they change it themselves and storing them at their own place.
re-threaded tyre on your van? these are normal steel belt radial tyre? do they still do that? thought they only do re-threading for the bigger nylon commercial tyres for big trucks/buses
