Can you name a country in Europe that wouldn't show the cup final, the CL final, and the hockey world championships (if the national team did well)?

Well, of course, if you want to watch Pompey-Cardiff in Italy, you'll need to buy a Sky Italia package... or go to the pub.

And if you want to see it in France, you'll need to have Canal+ Sport. Or go to the pub.

I'm not sure how much you'll be paying for a year's worth of these, but it's probably more than your licence-fee... :)

(I know our Canal+ package costs a good deal more)

Can't say whether DSF in Germany is pay-per-view. Might be, might not be. But you could always go to the pub.

Spain was quite difficult... Digital+ isn't showing it... and at least on their site, which SEEMED to have all channels including TVE channels.. it didn't surface. But I didn't look that hard... However, most ex-pat forums in Spain are advising people to go to the nearest Irish pub, which makes it sound as though it's a satellite job...

A better question might be: How many European countries will be carrying the FA Cup Final live on a free-to-air no-commercials public broadcaster?

For one's liver's sake, of course. :)

Did anyone manage to see the Rangers vs. Zenit UEFA final? I couldn't find it on any channel.

Was a bit annoying to see Zenit win it as we beat them in an earlier round.

is a good website for finding out who is broadcasting the big games, for example....

Not as annoying as it would have been to see Rangers win

Good work, sinikala. That link above is just the sort of thing I was looking for. How many of those on that list are PPV? judging by the names, they don't LOOK like EBU member-stations for the most part, which means they are probably not national carriers. About five seemed to be FTA.

On t'internet with english commentary , I agree with Simon, it was nice to see Rangers lose.
I know two Evertonians here who are still moaning that they should've won it. Eh Salopian?

I was watching it on the internet too, but after five minutes the stream died on me.
I was so angry I went on a one-man rampage around Vanha Kaupunki throwing bottles at ducks and screaming abuse at joggers.
Great night.

All fantastic options, great TV nations. Which Finnish pub was showing the UEFA Cup final?

So are you also the one that lurks under that wooden bridge on the canal there? There's all sorts roaming that area...

Which pub?

Any pub that has Viasat Sport 2 and a clientèle that wants to watch it, I guess. Mind you, they weren't running it live, but at midnight. So I kind of doubt they'd have been TOO keen to flog a live transmission to YLE for peanuts.

But why don't you have it at home? Like those sensible people in Italy or France?

It only costs 25 euros a month if you are cabled, and a bit more for satellite. :) That's a mere 300 a year.

AND you could have warmed up with Hull City vs. Watford, plus a 15-minute documentary on MuNa from MUTV. :P :D

Of course they'd have flogged it to YLE. I really don't think you understand the Finnish rights market. Can you tell me the name of the moneybags, behemoth of a company that sponsored the transmission of Tampere United's away leg at Levski Sofia? If they hadn't stepped in the day before the game, it would not have been on TV because Urheilukanava hadn't bothered to buy the rights and market it properly in advance.

No idea which are PPV... they list YLE2 as conax, which I suppose you need the card, but I don't think you need a subscription do you? Possibly others listed there are similar.

Basically I use that site to check if the games are on Canal+ / Viasat / Yle or Eurosport... if not I have to listen to them on the web or try and find a feed.

It doesn't list all channels though ... e.g. Bayern Munich are supposed to be live tomorrow on Urheilukanava, but liveonsat doesn't cover it

Interesting to see that Urheilukanava+ has a weekly 3 hour Everton TV programme :D :D I should subscribe to that next season.
