Of course you can do that. But who does that hurt? If you don't honestly have the money to live here, how are you going to live here? You will give your friends their money back, and then you'll be without money and can't pay the rent or buy any food. So it doesn't really help your situation.Rabs wrote:one thing i don't understand really. why one can't borrow some money from friends for a day and put it in bank and get a statement out and withdraw money the same day?

i mean those students who fall short of couple of thousands like OP who had just 4000 euros. i believe students can live beyond 10 months with 4000 euroes if they curb their spendings.jas_rho wrote:Of course you can do that. of course, it's an act of dishonesty but .... finnish government does not say you can't do that. what a hell... you can live with 0 euro if someone is willing to give you a free ride.. e.g. girlfriend/boyfriend? but again .... act of parasite ... anyway it's alway better to stand on one's own feet

well I think a band of 3-4 students generally has 6000 euros between them... what usually happens is that unless they are independently wealthy (=rich daddy) they need to scrape up the money at home, and then go to work and pay that money off... which means they can't get the next batch of 6000 into the bank except by some cunning plan. maybe its turnips milord.

Of course that's totally possible and, I'm sure, the most common way of ensuring the money's there. But, I'd be worried about the bank eating up fees for all that transferring. Just a thought, though.Rabs wrote:one thing i don't understand really. why one can't borrow some money from friends for a day and put it in bank and get a statement out and withdraw money the same day?

nah... e-banking is the most common way of making payment in finland if you are still new to this country. but i think bank charges a couple of euros every month for having online banking facility but again if you are young kids like most students, you don't have to.plathmelissa wrote:Of course that's totally possible and, I'm sure, the most common way of ensuring the money's there.
