Good Fingepori!
I actually like a lot of the dialects, but I was in the fortunate
position that my in-laws both spoke different dialects and I
lived in a part of the country that neither of them were from.
I found when I moved south to Tampere that people were highly
amused at the idea of a foreigner speaking dialectal Finnish.
But alas, the longer I've lived in the capital area, the more my
Finnish has been polluted by this area's monstrosities. And I no
longer say kahaveli or näästuukki *sniff*, although I still use
akkuna, sontikka, tykö, etc. (probably because I see my MIL a lot

).
