joo, I agree with the previous poster - there's no harm in making an appointment ahead of time. U never know if Finland is still experiencing a baby boom!!

The DVD doesn't have any sound unfortunately. So if u're technical, u may wanna record the sound track and then combine the sound & image digitally for a fuller experience. It's quite easy to do on the Mac and if u've a digital recording device (e.g. Minidisc) ...but that's 'extra', I suppose.

Have fun & enjoy your pregnancy! :D

ps. my baby's now a bouncing 7.5month old.. I can't believe he was inside me a year ago!

I had mine done in Felicitas-Klinikka, Urho Kekkosen katu 4-6 A, Helsinki Downtown. Together with the DVD, it costed something around 187e. We didn't get any money back from Kela. The doctor was very nice and patient. My daughter's back was facing the the camera, the doctor let us walked and waited a bit, finally we got her position right and saw her little pretty face. Lots of people told me before I went there that it is a matter of luck, if the baby is facing wrong side, you will not see the face at all and the doctor usually will not give second chance. So, I guess that we have picked the right clinic. The doctor himself said that since it costs rather a lot and we drove a long way to helsinki, we deserve to see better....

We also did book time way ahead, but the clinic suggested that we should wait till around week 28, when you can see everything much better on condition that your baby is healthy. From medical point of view. week 28 is the best time.

The whole thing usually takes about half an hour, we got many pictures, the doctor tried to catch the best he could. It is indeed once a life time, I am gonna do it for my next child for sure.

The doctor who performs this service at femeda is also very nice. We joked around, he snap as many still shots as I wanted, he was also very patient & waited for my daughter to get into the best possible position for viewing. Even though he's done this a million times, he made my experience feel special and I didn't feel shy about asking silly questions. He's from Italy I believe. It was the direct opposite of my 2 other ultrasound experiences that were done at Kätilöopisto Hospital, which were both very unpleasant :(

*bump* this old thread for banaani.

The Italian doctor is Dr Bruno Cacciatore. He is indeed very nice! If I remember right with Kela covering part of the costs it was around 120€.

Thanks Amandine ;)
Was wondering, is there a delay at which you can't get a 4D Ultrasound anymore? Since I'm soon at the end... :/
