Yeah thats right! You just use the Dazzle in between the VCR player and computer and the DVD writer on your comp will do it. If you can get hold of a Class Olsson catalogue, it will have the details. It also says its a Pinnacle InstantDVD Recorder

DVD shrink works pretty well for normal DVDs and VCDs..but has lately been having lots of problems with Vista and latest DVD movies bcos of newer copy protection systems.Nonie Danette wrote:I generally use DVD Shrink to convert VCD to DVD. I (um, I mean someone I know... lol) start with DVD Decrypter to crack DVDs to my computer. Then they are in VCD format. Then I open DVD Shrink and choose "Open Files" and direct it to the folder with the VCD files. I then click "Backup" and it's done (well it takes about 15 minutes to conver and/or shrink it). This program also shrinks studio DVDs down to under 4.7 gigs so you can burn them on recordable DVDs. When the file's converted just double click on it and DVD Decrypter will open to burn your DVD....

Re: Where to convert VCD to DVD?
hi,
i got the Dazzle DVD recorder, and i have come to the stage of connecting my video through the Dazzle to the computer, now i was thinking if i buy a external hardware storage device(USB external drive) http://www.clasohlson.fi/Product/Catego ... 224;251225
it would be cheaper than recording 300 tapes to dvd's,
then the question comes, what happens when i want to see it, can this usb external drive be connected to the tv, or should i see it on my computer??
Btw, do u know which usb external drive i will need??
thanks in advance for the advices, and this has helped me a lot, but slowly getting there.

Re: Where to convert VCD to DVD?
If you want to save the videos to an external USB hard drive and then play them back to the Tv you will have to do this via another device which has a USB (preferably USB 2) connector - this will probably be a DVD player or games console eg playstation 3.
There are not many (if any) TVs that have the USB connector. Note that this not guaranteed to work as not all external hard drive work with all DVD players.
Also you should get an external USB hard drive that is powered from the mains electricity NOT via the USb cable.
You will probably have to re- format the drive as Fat32 as for some reason you wont be able to see the drive if it is formatted as NTFS which is the normal format for large external drives.
There is the option of playing the Videos from the pc to the Tv if you have Svideo output from your PC and Svideo input on the TV You will also have to have separate cables to send the sound to the TV as well.
If you transfer the Vids to DVD discs you can get several full length films on one DVD disc if you re-encode them to XVID or DIVX format!
There are whole forums out there that specialise in these subjects - so maybe try good old google !

i checked some dvd with 8gb, it says you can record 240mins, so that will hardly fit 2 movie, but this re- code stuff i have no idea - should i do this before burning it to the dvd?
see i am a geek when it comes to electronics....

but i will try to do a google search.

Yes. There are many ways to put many movies in 1 DVD.odon wrote:thanks for that lengthy advicemeplusthree wrote: If you transfer the Vids to DVD discs you can get several full length films on one DVD disc if you re-encode them to XVID or DIVX format!

If you have a DVD with 7.8G then its a dual layer DVD (Most DVD movies are DL)...so you need a program to Read the files and save it as Video_TS folder, OR
you can use file manager, then go to the DVD directory and copy all of the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder into your hardrive in a folder with the same name (Video_TS):
Then use the program "DVD Shrink" and use this to read the files in the folder called Video_TS and do a disc backup.
You can also re-code if you want to make only parts of that movie and take away unnecessary subtitles, other audio options etc..
Recode is generally needed only when you want to compile multiple movies into 1 DVD.
Shrink is needed when you want to compress movies into smaller sizes..
You burn afterwords. Some programs can burn directly using the VIDEO_TS folder as input..
Others burn using a format called ISO.
Hope this helps...
