The prices of some of this baby stuff is a bit scary to be honest!

We managed to get a 10 Euro Brio Finesse from the Kerava penny shop with all of the original extras:-). I took all the cloth parts off and washed them and more or less it is as good as new and we now mainly use the pram inside the flat for moving the little one around and as a cot and so forth but it is also fun to push her around in it too - strangely satisfying for reasons i cant identify :-) Maybe it is all the money we saved??

We were then able to splurge out on a good breast pump bottles protectors milk catchers and so forth with a bit of abandon to make that side of it simpler so I can do the night shifts as much as possible while the wife sleeps. Again strangely satisfying even if a bit knackering.

Maybe i am a tight arse? I think you get a degree of pleasure from *not* spending money on all of this baby gear!

I also rigged up a baby balance from a broom pole and a few screw eyes that works pretty good with the pole suspended by cord under a chair and the baby weighed on the lid of the cardboard box and the quilt inside that the Finnish state gives you for the cot with a simple wooden frame under it with cords to go to a central point hooking onto one of the broom poles eyes! Again quite satisfying:-) It was going to take 6 weeks to get a baby scale delivered.

Also got heaps of good quality baby clothes from the penny shops.

So far the most expensive 'baby item' was the car hire for a week as we got ready to deliver and then for me to go in an out to visit and what not.

Meanwhile of course we are looking to buy a massively expensive house etc blah blah blah:-)

I agree with the prices of some of the baby stuff. Very scary to see 800€ prams... We got ours on sale fom the Hullut Päivät, sold it a few months after as our little one was so big he couldn't fit in the small pram unit, we then got a new one on sale at Lastentarvikke.

For the clothes I buy a lot off ebay or from Akseli in Mankka (second-hand market type of place). My kids are always dressed nicely and most of the time it is second hand. YOu can get French designer stuff for a few euros off ebay and nobody woud have guessed. I buy some stuff new once in a while not to be such a cheap mum though.

well mebbe thats why there is this sense of giving away baby clothes and stuff here.
We have given lots of baby clothes away and also got a lot of them!!
Now, our DD is going through a pair of sukahousut( Sock pants ) a day!! just cos the newly built pre-school has bad floors!!
Now, we re serioulsy thinking of just long hugging pants with socks instead of those sukahousut as they are €7-€10!!
I have been meaning to check ebay for clothes lately and have not had time..
Need to find a good seller of both 2nd hand and new clothes!!
