We managed to get a 10 Euro Brio Finesse from the Kerava penny shop with all of the original extras:-). I took all the cloth parts off and washed them and more or less it is as good as new and we now mainly use the pram inside the flat for moving the little one around and as a cot and so forth but it is also fun to push her around in it too - strangely satisfying for reasons i cant identify

We were then able to splurge out on a good breast pump bottles protectors milk catchers and so forth with a bit of abandon to make that side of it simpler so I can do the night shifts as much as possible while the wife sleeps. Again strangely satisfying even if a bit knackering.
Maybe i am a tight arse? I think you get a degree of pleasure from *not* spending money on all of this baby gear!
I also rigged up a baby balance from a broom pole and a few screw eyes that works pretty good with the pole suspended by cord under a chair and the baby weighed on the lid of the cardboard box and the quilt inside that the Finnish state gives you for the cot with a simple wooden frame under it with cords to go to a central point hooking onto one of the broom poles eyes! Again quite satisfying:-) It was going to take 6 weeks to get a baby scale delivered.
Also got heaps of good quality baby clothes from the penny shops.
So far the most expensive 'baby item' was the car hire for a week as we got ready to deliver and then for me to go in an out to visit and what not.
Meanwhile of course we are looking to buy a massively expensive house etc blah blah blah:-)
