The YKI test? No, I haven't... I've been sort of practicing the language since the late 60's and did okay in the ylioppilastutkinto :ochesey:

So, basically, I don`t need the test as the University does a language test of its own?

No, you need it as you haven't done the Finnish ylioppilastutkinto. If you apply in the "alien quota" which is everyone not been through the Finnish "system" you're generally required to prove your language ability - doesn't matter on your nationality rather than your schooling. It varies, but then again having the YKI done opens you all the doors, so its always a plus.

Oh, in case you didn't get it, sammy on poro.

Hmm I'm not quite sure actually. As a "furriner" applying to Finnish-language higher education you'd have somewhat 'different rules' than those applying to foreign-language programmes (Note that e.g. the http://www.admissions.fi site is only for those programmes available in English).

As P said, YKI certainly would not hurt you, but whether it is absolutely necessary - I guess it depends (?)

If I were you, I'd just contact the UAS's offering the programmes and ask - it could be that the entrance examination/admission procedure (to the Finnish-language programmes, these would be in Finnish) sort of acts as a language test simultaneously; or perhaps they arrange Finnish language tests of their own. This is what it says on the joint applications website to the regular Finnish language UAS programmes...

It is not necessary to send any certificate copies regarding the Finnish language skills but there will be a compulsory Finnish language test for all non-native Finnish speakers as a part of the entrance examination.
In this particular case i won´t need the YKI test. But I understand that it will be a big plus if I have the certificate. And as I read that you have to wait for it for 2 months...

I don´t believe that Sammy is poro

Ma ei räägi Eesti keelt, but that sounds somewhat suspicious  Are you after some "physiotherapy" perhaps?

Ja tüdruk tuleb ja istub su sarve otsa. If she´s pissed of course. :P

It doesn`t sound suspicious at all, it´s a straight proposal.
