Thanks muchly in advance

If you're planning on doing this by yourself (to save some money), then it will take forever anyway. If you have a professional landscape company do it, it will only take one day. (But it may not be exactly the way you wanted it.) Also, the landscape company can get the topsoil for your yard and have it deliverd too.(Their idea of what topsoil is and what you think it is may be completely different)cow-heada wrote:We can pick-up soil at 30 euro per 500kg locally (about half a cubic metre) but this is a bit unrealistic as it would take forever and comes to around 900 euro, so we would need it delivered in one go by dump truck - I guess.
that must be a rather large trailer to hold 12m3. Imagine 12 meters long, 12 meters wide and 12 meters high...Mölkky-Fan wrote:If you have a trailer (or can borrow one) you can pick up topsoil/ sand/ etc from Backas Puutarhakeskus (near Jumbo). I remember the price was quite cheap and you did not have to pay transport etc, but instead get your hands a little dirty loading the trailer etc.
Rather 6m x 2m x 1m = 12m3...Mook wrote:that must be a rather large trailer to hold 12m3. Will post once I have a chat with ma SO...cow-heada wrote:I was just wondering if anyone has any experience buying around 12 cubic metres of topsoil which we will use to flatten a sloping lawn - considering also that we live in Kirkkonummi area. ..just need some supporting non-rotting timberwork at the 'toe' end along with some drainage to take away the buildup of water..where to drain the water too is a bit of an issue..will need some kind of a soak pit within our boundary.T-K wrote:Sounds a bit scary that you are leveling a sloping lawn, how much of a incline is there? and what are you using to stop it sliding off?
..did the calcs on this, and loose top soil is not only twice the volume of compact topsoil but it's actually very heavy - over 1200kg per m3. Our large car can tow only 500kg GROSS, so thats around 400kg of soil, which is well under .5m3 - ie, not much.Mölkky-Fan wrote:If you have a trailer
Good info here! Some of these places will transport it for you too.Mook wrote:Aparently you can get soil from the sewage processing plants. Much cheaper than anywhere else...
