It means "nonsense". I am not judging you, only pointing the law: unless both husband and wife agree the biological father has no right to the child even if the mother was in a formal relationship with him at the time of conception (isn't this strange?)
If my translation is correct, only after 2 years can either of the two (mother and "alleged" father) require the annulment of the paternity without the other agreement.

Biological father is the guy with sperm, the fertilizer,...you get the hang :D

Am I the only one who sees a contradiction here?

Welcome to Finland, where Finns live and the language is Finnish and even the laws are written in that strange language. It would be nice if immigrants realized that. Also that things are not told, you are supposed to know things or find the information yourself (which you are doing, good for you!).

A bit OT, but one problem is that even the law is *translated* it also has to convey the *meaning* as well. I find quite clear laws get bizzarre interpretations from people interpreting it according to their own legal tradiotion. or sometimes words and terminology can be confusing... explain an osakehuoneisto and asunto-osakeyhtiö to a person who is in the strong belief he "owns" his flat ;)

on another tangent,

Every time I see this subject and the pregnancy thread, I wonder what
Finnish expressions might come to readers minds, one can learn so
much by looking at culture/humor imo, even tho' this is not really in the
culture or language sections of FF. I also wonder what expressions
conveying 'a train wreck waiting to happen' would be for Finnish.
moving is in the bad <-> crazy continuum

I think the Finnish idiom closest might be "it was doomed at birth/beginning".

there is the word 'tai' (='or') there, but anyway, if both the husband and wife are ready to continue the marriage and want to raise the child as their own, then there is nothing the 'sperm donor' can do.
