It's last-chance saloon tonight with Spain, but so far aside from the Germans' carve-up of a genial but inadequate Australia this renewal of the World Cup has been about as exciting as watching grass grow. It might be a good idea in future to decide the groups in the pub the night before - all these teams' coaching staffs have done their homework immaculately these past months in blanking out anything remotely resembling creativity in the opposition.
Spain-Switzerland will be only the second wholly-European tie, so let's see how its fits into the wider context so far and aforementioned nostalgia.
Brazil - DPRK was intriguing last night, even if it was one-way traffic. Interesting to see how a side so relatively isolated from the international system likes to kick its bags of wind around. They were comfortable on the ball when they had it, unlike, say, Carragher, SWP, Terry, Heskey. But yes, intriguing rather than purely entertaining football. Similary, it would be easy to forgive a somewhat negative approach from the Swiss this evening though.
Chile have been tipped to dispose of Honduras rather easily. Maybe it's all gonna kick off today...
