Boohoo! I'd really hoped to join you all, but I've come down with a cold. Have a lovely time and do let the rest of us know the date/venue for the next meeting!
Re: Attention moms in Helsinki area!
Hi there,
I missed your gathering yesterday but would love to meet you anytime from October when I relocate to Finland with my family. I've got a baby son of five months just about. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!
Cheers

I'm sorry for the 'no show' today ladies, the little lad had a terrible night and I was feeling like a zombie... Hopefully next time!

Re: Attention moms in Helsinki area!
Hello Moms,
Is any of you part of an email group that helps each other on any kid-related questions, like
- location and reputation of schools
- where to buy or hand-me-downs of baby and kids clothes and gear
- tips for kids activities
- references for nannies and babysitters
- mom-to-mom advice on minor ilnesses
- ... etc.
If this is the place for it, I will start a new thread and see if that works, but if there's a dedicated mailing group or facebook group already in existance, I'd rather hop onto that!
Kiitos,
Jessica

Hey Jessica,
I'm in the same position. I started a facebook group a couple of months ago that I'm hoping will take off as I use it far more easily than Finland Forum. Its "Expat Parents in Helsinki", I made a page and a group. The page has 15 members so far. I'm planning on posting all the things you've mentioned there as I find them out and hopefully we can build a community this way.
Cheers

Hey Andi,
Which mum are you added in the group? You know theres a group and a page, the page has more people logged into it. They usually announce mum's meetings there too.
I also know another Hungarian mum here with an 8 month old girl. We should catch up and I can introduce you.
Cheers!

Hello Jen,
I didn't add anyone else, just signed myself. I am so happy to find this group and also met some of the moms today in Stockmann!
Yippiiiiiii, it would be just great if you could introduce us with that other hungarian mother - if she is fine with it ofc!
Hope to see you soon as well!

Hi Coolaqua,
My 3 year old son as well can only manage words but no sentences, but he has 2 languages at home + finnish in päiväkoti. Sometimes boys take longer to speak.
Re food, you could try neuvola (if they speak some english) or some doc, but I have read that sometimes kids go through no-eating phases... but you may want to check with doctors first!
If he is strating päiväkoti, maybe by association and seeing other children eat he will start eating, of course they will not force him to eat at daycare but the variety of food + other children eating may help.
Good luck,

Dear Ladies!
I've just joined the Forum, and read about a planned meeting in 2010... long time ago by now, but wondering if it has transformed into any regular meetings that I could join (with a 3-mths old baby)? I've seen the weekly announcements of Mom & Baby meetings (posted as separate topics) - is it by any chance the continuation of this group, so to say?
Kind regards, and hope to meet in person!

Re: Attention moms in Helsinki area!
try contacting "dallan" - I think she's been organising the meetings.

Re: Attention moms in Helsinki area!
Hi Ladies,
Yep dallan is the one that organises the weekly meetups at different play centres around Helsinki. She always posts it on the facebook group and page for 'Expat parents in Helsinki'.
Cheers!
