I picked up a block of that Lidl cheddar. It has a bit of an odd after taste. But it's ok..I've tasted worse.

Yeah, it's from Leek. That place always gives me the chills....Childhood trauma...antique shopping on wet weekends....*shivers*

Did you buy the salted crisps? I got some of the salt & vinegar sticks...I don't know why I buy them 'cause I hate those corn snack-thingies. I should just lick the flavouring off them. :D

Crisps, wow I would loooove crisps, havent tasted them for YEARS! Real English type, in small bags, yummy. My eldest, nearly 8 has just discovered Pringles, totally revolting to me! Once he tries English crisps, I hope he will be converted  It is funny how your tastes change, after living away for a few years though... I was bought English traditional Christmas cake, from Waitrose, last year. Living in UK, in my youth, I used to love it. But when I tasted it last year, it made my stomach churn, too rich. Must have gotten too used to the bland, simple Finnish diet eh?

Yes, I got the S&V sticks and ate them and regretted it - was totally dehydrated the whole of the next day! But they are so moreish (if you grew up on that kind of rubbish which I definitely did in the 60s and 70s). There were also pepper and salt crisps and salt and (balsamic) vinegar crisps. I got both. I need hypnotherapy :ohno: (have successfully given up Twiglets though :ochesey: )

Didn't bother with the roast dinners or the roast potatoes. I prefer to make my own (indeed, think I'll do a turkey and sprouts this weekend, then we can do a full-Finnish theme at Xmas)

Not mad on Xmas cake either (all that marzipan and icing :| ) but love a hot pudding with brandy butter - can't beat it!

It's that wonderful combination of salt and vinegar that does it. S&Vs and a big glass of cold full fat milk!! :D

I didn't see those. Just the S&V and the ready salted ones..Different stock?

God no!! Those packet meals looked terrible, worse than they normally do. I don't like Sunday dinners...wet Sundays, antiques and Leek, it's all linked together. I do love roast lamb though...It's a shame lamb isn't so popular here.

Jesus died so we could eat that cake!!! I love it...for the marzipan and icing!!!! Puddings are great too.

 Yeah...I agree... Jesus would want us to eat that cake....one of Victorian England's greatest contributions to the world of fine eating... Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it...and Christmas puddings .....and those little mince tarts ....and shortbread cookies with the little green or red candied cherries and other "what-nots" on them.... :D

Okay, now that I have tasted them... you'll need a cat to feed them. It is not often when you hear words that really mean what they say... the flavouring is great, but the thing holding the flavour... yuck, I have probably tasted better cardboard.
