We already have. In England, and I presume in Ireland, corned beef comes in a can. I assume that's why aguinness commented.

What the Septics refer to as corned beef we'd call salt beef, in England you'd associate it with Jewish delis and possibly see it sold as pickled brisket. I haven't seen it here, though I'm not looking for it.

Yes... I'm with the BlueFIsh on this one! Real Corned Beef definitely comes out of a tin. Whether or not that's what the Irish eat on St.P's day I don't know. Personally I like it in a very thick sandwich with Piccalilli.

I went over to Stockmann's and got a piece of brisket (naudan rinta) - was a bit under 10€ a kilo - could have gotten without any fat but asked them to cut a piece with a bit.

I'll start the recipe and let know what happened.

but gee - don't anyone ever open a CAN and think one's going to find real corned beef inside. It will be 'processed meat' that's for sure - but you almost might as well stick with the original Spam.

I totally agree....canned meat, especially corned bee, is NOT a substitute for the real thing, and some good mustard - mmmmmmmmmm.....let us know how and which recipe you decided to go with, and how it turned out.

OK....photos making me hungry....nothing like a good NY Deli, complete with corned beef on rye, a little sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and brown (spicy) mustard....YUM.

So, if I open my "Bonnie's Burger n' Blues Bistro" here in Helsinki....we should add Brisket to that title too? LOL

I was refering to calling it " St Pattys" = U.S term and eating corned Beef, while nothing wrong with it, I have never in my life heard of an Irish person eating it and it´s definitly not associated with St. Patrick´s day, some of these dishes are typically Irish.
