Re: Permanent Residence Permit is valid for 5 Years!!
(I thought you got a reasonable reply already the first time you asked this)
The permit is as "permanent" as it has been (can be revoked under certain conditions, but does not need periodic renewal).
The card you need to renew every five years, like most of need to renew other documents.

Re: Permanent Residence Permit is valid for 5 Years!!
Thanks for remembering the topic. However no satisfactory explanation was received. The answers were this kind : "if he understands correctly..." or "not sure , whether it is implemented here ..." etc..Rip wrote:(I thought you got a reasonable reply already the first time you asked this)

Actually I am looking for a clear and definite opinion in light of the current Finnish law.
If the current law clearly tells that the maximum duration of "residence permit" ( not card/sticker validity) is 5 years, then why it is called "permanent"residence permit?
A card is a renewable material ,every one knows, but the point is here not about the card renewal ( like master card or others), the point is about the renewal of residence permit.

Well have you read that? http://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/alkup/2011/20110631 its pretty clear to me. And doesn't say jack about any changes in the duration of permits. It talks of the duration of the card.

It does NOT tell so, clearly or otherwiseablo wrote: If the current law clearly tells that the maximum duration of "residence permit" ( not card/sticker validity) is 5 years, then why it is called "permanent"residence permit?

Though the permanent residence permit is indeed still permanent. Hence it's name. The card, (as was explained) needs to be renewed.
Also Migri doesn't lie.

Re: Permanent Residence Permit is valid for 5 Years!!
There is a slight difference with a residence permit card and a residence card, the latter are for non-EU spouses of EU nationals, who again don't need a permit, but need to register their right of residence... no doubt now that its only the police/embassy you can leave your applications at - and personally - the main city police stations its going to be a real zoo as of course theres no resources... anyone got their biodynamite card yet? Like the color?

Re: Permanent Residence Permit is valid for 5 Years!!
Hi, I recently came across the same issue. Is there any clear answer whether you need a permanent job and reasonable income to renew the permanent residence on your passport after 5 years ? Or how is it gonna work?
Thanks

The permit is permanent. The physical document you should renew, but you don't need any proof of income for that.bigomena wrote:[Do] you need a permanent job and reasonable income to renew the permanent residence on your passport after 5 years ?
