I believe lawyers do not need to be involved, disputes regarding children between the separated parents are handled by the " Lastenvalvoja ".
I would contact them first. You should be able to find the contact details on your citys web page.

That holocaust comment aside, when one party is already lawyered up, the op would be wise to do that too. But escalating things with attitude like "attack is best defence" ends in jail.

The wife's lawyer needs to provide you with sufficient advise as to why the common registration bylaws are to be neglected.Throw that in the retarded fin lawyers face.
Don't contact the opponents lawyer without legal advice first. Each contact can be misused as an argument you agreed to renegotiate.
i guess im a tad irrepressible

I think the whole situation is already really bad for the children. When parents get stressed, children suffer.

I called the lasten valvoja neuvonta, but they weren't very helpful. It was said just to contact her lawyer and see what they want exactly. But I believe this might not have been good advice. So monday morning I will contact a lawyer myself. And see what my lawyer says about this topic, and preferably let my lawyer do the contact.

[quote="grandi"]Hello,

You are a male foreigner, divorced from a Finn. Do not expect much from lasten valvoja neuvonta . Moreover , lawyer is involved, my advice is for you to get the kids registered with the school already provided for them , while you also get your lawyer involved if your ex does not want to settle it amicably . The court case journey is a waste of fund that can be used for this kids extra -curriculla activities. All schools in Helsinki is well equipped to educate this children to face the future demand of educating themselves. What the kids will need at this stage of divorce is a positive support and guidance from both parents and not the both parents post-divorce grudges.

In the Finnish system those impartial institutions have as main task to protect the children, not to help the parents solve their problems.
(a judge also will look at the situation from the child's point of view)

Just go ahead with a lawyer and don't panic.

Just another thought:
You present the case as a location issue. But is it possible your ex has a different motive (apart from making things difficult)
Is the school she suggest a special school (religious background, Montessori, Steiner or so?) and has her choice to do with the upbringing of your son.
In that case the conflict is more fundamental and you have to solve that first.
