Not really. I opened my account in S-Bank with my driving license and I also have a credit card from them with a reasonable limit. May be things have changed with time. I opened it in 2009.

What is your nationality and which country has issued the driving license?Honest wrote:I have never carried my passport with me (except when leaving the country), have my driving license with me all the time, don't have any ID card from police, have never had any problem anywhere.

I am from a so called "third world" country
Driving license is from Finland. But I kind of converted my original to Finnish one. But my country is not mentioned on my license but my origin is written clearly on my face

What does kind of conversion mean? Yeah as already mentioned in this thread having a Finnish driver's license is quite universally accepted (besides for travel).Honest wrote:I am from a so called "third world" countryDriving license is from Finland. Didn't go to any driving school here.I had a valid license from my home country and I was eligible to convert it during first 18 months of my stay in Finland, but I didn't know about that rule so I couldn't convert that. Later I had to go to a driving test and hand my older license over to police to get a Finnish one.
Re: Refused S-Etukortti
Actually that's your birth place shown on the driving license. So with the Finnish driving license it can't prove your citizenship, nor ethnicity.Cory wrote: Actually, the origin of your original license should be evident on your Finnish DL. Ok..mine is from 1997 but it has CAN printed on the front just under my name.

I also use only my driving licence and have not had any problems including getting another credit card.
