Until you walk into prisma and try to open a S-credit card. Then you leave without the account.

Not really. I opened my account in S-Bank with my driving license and I also have a credit card from them with a reasonable limit. May be things have changed with time. I opened it in 2009.

What is your nationality and which country has issued the driving license?

I am from a so called "third world" country :) Driving license is from Finland. But I kind of converted my original to Finnish one. But my country is not mentioned on my license but my origin is written clearly on my face :)

What does kind of conversion mean? Yeah as already mentioned in this thread having a Finnish driver's license is quite universally accepted (besides for travel).

Didn't go to any driving school here.I had a valid license from my home country and I was eligible to convert it during first 18 months of my stay in Finland, but I didn't know about that rule so I couldn't convert that. Later I had to go to a driving test and hand my older license over to police to get a Finnish one.

Actually that's your birth place shown on the driving license. So with the Finnish driving license it can't prove your citizenship, nor ethnicity.

I also use only my driving licence and have not had any problems including getting another credit card.

Maybe it is a matter of having a trustworthy face ;)
