She is gonna apply for continuous permit in couple of months, there is a doubt about a section in application form:

1)Have you ever been convicted of an offense and sentenced to punishment

Does she has to say YES or NO for this question..?

Okay well, remember that your "finger prints" were all taken at the first place? Then you are now in the police record. So therefore, this applies everywhere you move into an immigration office, you are traced. So in this case: yeah you are convicted for an offense....but not sentenced to punishment.

So your answer should be "NO". If anything goes wrong with your application, the immigration authorities will call you up for questioning. But this is just a formality and nothing to worry about. They are just doing their job to make sure that you are doing fine. Remember that the question implies both cases "convicted for offense and sentenced."

But hey, you are in a foreign land, so respect the laws and stay free from crime. That was silly and do not do that anymore.

Come on dudes....it's that easy to make such mistakes. But hey....if u get into LIDL with already bought stuffs in bag, u do not need to inform cashier bcoz the codes have already been recorded in the computer....so u can eat your stuffs. But again.....that was silly to eat nuts and walk out without pay. The Finnish system is just way too computerized that everything one does here, the police knows . Am even scared of kissing a girl at traffic lights or do anything crazy there . I did kissed several times drunk.......and regret having caught by camera on video. I guess the police have got several of my videos kissing girls ...LMFAO

But hey.....the question is 2 parts "convicted and sentenced". In your case, it should be answered "No". You got a minor case and nothing more. When filling the form, explain your crime to the Police and you will be assisted on how to fill the form. No worries.....ok?

I think her finger prints are not taken, it's that she is taken to policestation and gave fine

So you are telling that she should lie in one of most important papers in her life?
You are in police records even if your fingerprints havent been taken when police checked your papers and fined you. And she is sentenced and punished by fine.
You are mixing up criminal record and truth. Shoplifting doesnt show up in criminal record but it is in police system what immigration sees and what they are asking for.

Old wisdom is that be honest, one shoplifting probably wont mean that she wont get permit but lying in application is way more serious.

I did something idiotic about shoplifting and police considered fine for me (50€). I am student in Finland and I am going to extend my Visa.
I dont know does this matter any effect on my Visa extention?
if any body has some information please let me know and give me some advise how to explain this matter for officer?

This thread is crooked in itself.
No one has the right to pick items and use it unless they first meet the governing requirements that those items are placed in.
You enter the "customs area" and you are now subject to those customs requirements.

We all know that everyone advocating the "bending or rejection" of the customs requirements are from crooked religious or social paths, WHO in the simplest form would go and cry in the corner if i was to "break" your customs requirements and self service myself to your goods or property.

We know the police and government will spend tax money to pick shop lifters up and support resolution of the issue.
Its the only sure thing in the thread.
