Citizenship Application 2021
Re: Citizenship Application 2021
For the ones who are waiting more than 17 months like me, do you think is it wise to write to Finnish ombudsman?

You guys should definitely go for it and access all the authorities to make your voice heard. These lazy people damn care for you + your career. We are the people paying for their salaries from our taxes. Because this department is made for us, and we are the people most ignored by them.Momomamo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:27 pmFor the ones who are waiting more than 17 months like me, do you think is it wise to write to Finnish ombudsman?

Re: Citizenship Application 2021
Last time I contacted them was in Jan I think and then I stopped caring anymore as I got extremely busy with my research work. At the time (for the 4th time total) they said the new deadline for decisions for applicants from the countries on the list has been extended by two months. In other words, new deadline is 18months instead of 16months.

It could be helpful, esp. when there are multiple deadlines for the same citizenship application.Momomamo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:27 pmFor the ones who are waiting more than 17 months like me, do you think is it wise to write to Finnish ombudsman?

If one uses time calculator wizard it shows 5-7 month (changed from 7-12)
If you go to citizenship application page it shows 10-16months
If you goto enter finland, it shows 7 to 18 months.
Having said that complaining would only make migri to streamline these deadlines and make it 7 to 18 months for everyone, I don’t think there would be a considerable change in actual behaviour with the current situation of COVID, brexit etc (excuse or reality whatever).

The 18 months is ESTIMATED processing time, not a deadline. There is no 'deadline' for processing a citizenship application that I can find anywhere.

Many people who apply for citizenship have been living from unemployment benefits paid from Finnish taxes their whole time in Finland.mani121 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:40 pmYou guys should definitely go for it and access all the authorities to make your voice heard. Slow processing is not the fault of Migri.
It is known for years that Migri is understaffed.
Even for urgent matters like student RPs they often have far too long queues with some students not receiving their RPs before studies start, and when they barely manage to keep up with urgent matters there is little progress on non-urgent matters.

Can you show proofs to back your claim that many people who apply for Finnish citizenship have been living on unemployment benefits their whole time in Finland? How many of them do you know personally? Over 95% of the people I know personally came here as students and you can’t live on unemployment benefit as a student coming outside the EU.FinlandGirl wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 8:09 amMany people who apply for citizenship have been living from unemployment benefits paid from Finnish taxes their whole time in Finland.mani121 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:40 pmYou guys should definitely go for it and access all the authorities to make your voice heard. And on students residence permit, what then is there to verify when all the documents like bank statements, work contracts, insurance and enough school credit are all from here (Finland)? They can make decisions on student RP right away especially if the student have been in Finland already.

These people could then eventually apply for citizenship while having been on benefits.

If you came as spouse, you can live on unemployment benefits until you are a Finnish citizen.Esu wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 11:17 amCan you show proofs to back your claim that many people who apply for Finnish citizenship have been living on unemployment benefits their whole time in Finland? A few years ago the government decided it would be a good use of taxpayer money to pay unemployment benefits even to spouses who did have to show secure means of support for being granted an RP.
This feels like a policy designed by people who want women to be housewives.
