They told me today on the fone .I applied April 2021 average time get decision for me 1-2 month no longer then this.

Well according to their citizenship-related bulletin the 2020 applications will be dealt by spring of 2023.

I submitted a personal dissatisfaction letter to the head of Migri, and copied some other agencies that are in charge of discrimination in Finland, but I am still yet to get a response from them yet. But at least, I had a good feeling afterwards to have taken that step.

I am not jealous of those who got applied and got their decisions within 7 months, the main question I asked was if Migri is pointing to backlogs from 2021 applications for their delayed decisions. On what grounds are those who submitted their applications in November 2021-January 2022 already receiving decisions over those who have been waiting for over 17 months without their applications being opened at all. If that is not selective profiling, I don't know what else could best describe their actions.

This message is to everyone who has been waiting for over 15 months. I submitted my application way back in March 2021 and my applications not yet even opened. But whenever I read about those who submitted theirs just less than a year ago and all getting their decisions, it shows basically one simple truth (systemic discrimination) from megrim. I personally know of two individual cases with applications submitted way back in December 2020 and theirs are not even yet opened.

If you know you are part of this affected individuals ( and you have not issues in anyway attached to your application, which mean you have to be on a clean slate), I am beginning to look for more people in our shoes so we can get our stories out to the media. I won't wait until the October deadline given to me by megrim before I get into action, cos I know my case will be extended just like the others that I know of. Kindly signify here, if you are bold enough to be interviewed by journalists on this.

Simply, they don’t treat some of their customers well. Always coming out flimsy excuses. 17kk my application not opened and still stage one. When you called them also , the best answer comes from them we are dealing with 2020 applicants meanwhile they are giving decisions to 2022 applicants. Very bad attitude from their side. They are not even fourthcoming with their answers.

Does anyone know how long will it take to get permanent residence permit? I already applied for Finnish citizenship but my current residence permit A is expiring at the end of December. I just wonder if I need to apply for permit A again or shall I apply straight for P permit while waiting for the Finnish citizenship. The latest A permit was issued because of my temporary work contract. Starting this September my work became permanent.

You might want to see this (from page 17 of forum):
"I applied A-extension in November 2021, got the decision in one week, and the card arrived in two weeks. If you are in the same situation and the country is not on the list, I would suggest applying for the permit extension, not the permanent one. The decision will come faster, and the residence permit will become invalid when you get the citizenship."

In this case, the writer had applied for citizenship, like you. It would seem that decisions on extended permits do not take as long. Also, if you apply in EnterFinland using strong authentication (banking credentials), you are less likely to have to visit a service point to prove your identity. Just make sure to have your application in BEFORE your current residence permit expires.

Hi. Thank for your help. Yes, actually A permits are issued quite fast. My current A permit also arrived in a couple of weeks. Maybe it’s worth just extending it for now instead of applying for P permit. I believe that they must give it for 4 years straight like they do it for quota refugees.

Well in my case i found, that there is an option visa for job search is available not only for students, but for researchers too. Since i am a researcher and came to Finland on research visa i will apply for this one job search if will not get citizenship. May be this info will be usefull if any researchers here. I applied for citizenship because i just wanted to change my job safely. Now i am pretty much tied to my job contract, but with this opportunity ll have a chance to change it. If here there r some folks who came to do phd or research in finland, may be this info could be useful to u that they have this opportunizy now.

There is no B permit issued anymore. Now stydent gets 4 years A permit straight.

But if it exists once you do that you will never be eligible for citizenship. What on earth you will change even A permit to B. With A permit you can study

I was thinking the A permit is now for university level students only. The ones who study in vocational schools still get B permits.
